Explorando la Naturaleza Asturiana: Descubre a los Osos Pardos en Fuentes del Narcea

Si eres un amante de la naturaleza y el turismo rural en busca de la auténtica Asturias tranquila, no puedes perderte Fuentes del Narcea. Este rincón de Asturias es un destino excepcional, y está a unos 85 Km de Puerto de Vega, por la Carretera AS-15 aproximadamente 1 hora y media de viaje en coche.

Fuentes del Narcea abarca los concejos de Narcea, Degaña y Ibias, y alberga el parque natural del mismo nombre. Con sus impresionantes 567 kilómetros cuadrados de superficie, este es el espacio protegido más extenso de toda Asturias.

Este lugar es una joya natural en el suroeste asturiano, limitando con León y Lugo. Además de la emocionante búsqueda de osos, esta región es famosa por el bosque de Muniellos, designado Reserva de la Biosfera por la UNESCO, y el antiguo monasterio que ahora alberga el espléndido Parador de Corias.

Lo más emocionante es la oportunidad de observar osos pardos de manera guiada, especialmente durante el otoño y la primavera, así como lobos durante el invierno. En este aspecto, el albergue Vega del Horreo es un recurso invaluable. Allí, recibirás orientación experta para vivir esta experiencia única en familia.

Las mejores poblaciones oseras se encuentran en sus montañas, desde que estuvieron a punto de desaparecer en la década de los 80, un buen número de hembras reproductoras han logrado con el paso de los años afianzar la población osera en estas montañas. El lobo también mantiene buena presencia aunque con cierto declive por la caza autorizada desde el Principado de Asturias para intentar bajar su población en los últimos años.

En estos paisajes verdes encontrarás ecosistemas variados; desde zonas más o menos humanizadas, con pueblos, prados, setos, bosques dispersos, pastizales, hasta cumbres, robledales, hayedos, bosques de ribera, ríos, lagos de montaña, turberas, etc. En cada biotopo podrás encontrar distinta fauna que merece la pena conocer, observar e investigar en tus salidas de monte.

El oso pardo es el animal terrestre en estado salvaje más grande de la fauna ibérica. Su esperanza de vida supera los 20 años. La población cantábrica se divide en dos núcleos, el oriental y el occidental, con un censo (a fecha de Febrero de 2023) de unos 370 ejemplares. En detalle, se estima que hay 210 machos y 160 hembras, distribuidos entre la subpoblación occidental (250) y la oriental (120).
